About This Programme

Master of Science in Materials Engineering is a mixed mode postgraduate academic programme which specializes on materials structures, properties, processing and characterization techniques. The main objective for the establishment of this programme is to produce postgraduates in the field of materials engineering with specialization in materials to fulfil the need of Malaysia's modern industries such as manufacturing and production, research and development work, maintenance and disposal, education etc. The programme equips students with sufficient materials engineering knowledge and soft skills to enable them to work effectively, not only toward their degree but also to deal with problems encountered in an increasingly competitive technological world.

In addition to the master degree, graduates will also be certified as Cathodic Protection Practitioner Level 1 and Level 2 from Institute of Materials Malaysia (IMM), with terms and conditions applied. This is a grand opportunity for graduates to spread their wings globally into chemical, oil and gas, refinery, transportation and many others.

Admission Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, or Technology, or Science, with CPA ≥ 2.75 from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) or any other Institutions of Higher Learning recognised by the UTHM Senate.

    Applicant with CPA ≥ 2.50 must pass through internal assessments.

    Applicants with CPA < 2.50 must have at least five(5) years working experience in related engineering field.

  • Minimum score of 500 for Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), or

    Minimum Band 5 for International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or

    Minimum Band 3 for Malaysian University English Test (MUET). Exemption shall be granted to candidates or international students who obtained a Bachelor Degree (or equivalent) in Malaysia.
