About This Programme

Our Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Business programme is designed for those aiming to deeply explore business theory and practice through rigorous research. It helps students develop advanced skills to tackle global business challenges, combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience. Graduates are prepared to drive innovation, contribute original research, and lead change in both academia and industry.

Our PhD in Business has received the Provisional Accreditation (PA) from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) under code MQA/PA 17993.

Admission Requirements

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • A Master’s Degree in a relevant field or a field recognized by the Senate of Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia; OR
  • Other qualifications equivalent to a Master’s Degree recognized by the Senate, subject to a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience and thorough internal evaluation; OR
  • Without relevant qualifications in the field or relevant work experience, must meet the prerequisites set by UTHM by passing the following courses:
    • Fundamentals of Accounting and Finance
    • Business Management
    • Principles of Economics
  • This programme also accepts students through APEL.A T-8 for those who do not have a master’s degree, in accordance with the criteria set by the MQA.

ENGLISH REQUIREMENTS

  • Local and international applicants who have graduated from universities in Malaysia are exempt from the English requirements.
  • International applicants must have a minimum English qualification of IELTS level 6.0, MUET Band 4.0, or an equivalent standard.
  • International applicants who have graduated from universities in designated English-speaking countries may also be exempt from the requirement.
